For the first time, Fallout 76 players are allowed to leave Appalachia for new but dangerous adventures in Expeditions. Now you can go to the Pit and explore new little worlds unlike anything you’ve ever seen before in Appalachia.
The Fallout 76 Expeditions update is already live, but if you want to start your first expedition, there are some requirements you need to meet. Going to an exhibition requires its own ticket, and here, you’ll learn how to get that special ticket.
How to start a journey
If you want to launch and lead your own Expedition, you’ll need to fully charge the Vertibird’s Ultracite battery cell. This acts as a ticket to enter the Pit. However, if you join someone else’s trip, you will take the driver’s battery charge so you don’t need to charge it. So, if you want to join a friend’s journey, you can skip the following part of the guide and jump to where we talk about Pete.
How to fully charge an Ultracite battery cell in a Vertebrate
Now that you want to start your own journey, you need to find responders in their new location in Appalachia. You can find responders in the main building of Whitespring Resort. There are some new characters in the building to learn more about the responders.
To fully charge the battery, you need to complete at least three daily missions for responders. Below, you can take a quick look at these missions.
- Mutual aid request:
- This mission requires you to deliver some resources to Sophie Wagoner as Wood.
- Recipe for success:
- In this mission you have to help Esme Rousseau to prepare food. You need to get some ingredients from the kitchen store and prepare for the meal. You should also stir the pan often to prevent it from burning. Offer the food to the Raider Representative or Settler Representative.
- Blue code
- To start the mission, you must talk to Rucker in the Answerers building. Every now and then he is sent on a mission to collect some medical instructions that randomly spawn on different parts of the map. Provide all instructions to the responding medic in the asylum to complete the mission.
- Guide to refugees
- Talk to Skippy Roerich, who sends you on a mission to create a guide for refugees to survive in the dangerous wilderness of Appalachia. You will be tasked with talking to a few people and taking some pictures of certain places and characters. Once you deliver the photos to Roerich, the mission will be complete.
Remember that completing only three of the four missions listed above is enough to get an Ultra Cell. Also, the first two missions are available in the game every day and each one charges the Ultracite battery up to 25%, the third and fourth missions each charge up to 50%. You cannot overcharge the battery.
How to travel to Pitt
Once you complete the daily missions, open the map and look for a new travel icon at the top. Hovering the cursor over this icon will show you the Ultracite battery status. Leading a new journey uses a fully charged battery.
Using the map, you can start a new journey or continue an existing one. Once you enter the Pit, there will be checkpoints at certain locations as you progress through the mission. These checkpoints allow you to exit the pit at any time and then return to continue the journey from where you left off. This allows you to take your time in Pit and explore the area freely.
Currently, there are only two quests in Pit that you can choose from before starting the journey.
