Who wants to listen to that ringtone anymore? Many of my friends sitting in the same room have the same ringtone on their iPhones and it is often confusing whose iPhone is ringing, so it should be properly blocked. It’s funny but sad and disappointing at the same time.

How to make ringtone on iPhone?

If you’re someone like me who’s interested in making a new ringtone on your iPhone, know that you’ll need iTunes, some time and patience with a few tricky steps, and you’ll be good to go with a new custom one. Ringtone on your iPhone.

  1. Open iTunes on your MacBook or PC. If you don’t already have it installed. Download it from the Apple website.
  2. Select the song you want to create as a ringtone. It better be good!
  3. Right click on the song in iTunes and click on Song Info option.
  4. Click the Options tab on the menu.
  5. Choose a song duration of 30 seconds, as Apple limits ringtones to be no longer than 30 seconds. You cannot have more than 30 seconds for any ringtone.
  6. Make sure you put the correct timestamps in minutes and seconds. Once you choose the time, make sure to play the audio once to get satisfaction. You can still make changes to the duration if you wish.
  7. Click OK to confirm the selection.
  8. After you click OK, the song will be highlighted. Right click and go to “Convert” and then change the audio to “Create AAC version”. Apple iTunes will automatically convert your 30-second audio into ringtone format, the AAC version.
  9. Congratulations, you’ve created your own ringtone. Right-click the audio and select Show in Finder.
  10. Once you find the song in the finder, right and convert it from .m4a format to .m4r format because the extension of Apple ringtones is .m4r and not the other way around.
  11. After clicking OK, you will be asked again to choose between the two. Select .m4r.
  12. After this is done, open the window and connect your iPhone to your PC or MacBook using a lightning cable.
  13. Drag and drop your .m4r sound under Tones in the left panel and it will be in your iPhone ringtones section.
