Expedia says Ireland has “the friendliest people on the planet,” meaning you’re sure to make a friend or two during your adventures. Ireland also has great value for money with public transport, good roads for road traffic, and plenty of places to grab a fresh pint of Guinness.
If you’re wondering where to go in Ireland, Hotels.com suggests heading to Dublin and staying at Staycity Aparthotels Dublin Castle, which is within walking distance of Dublin Castle. According to one solo traveler, this hotel is the perfect size for any solo traveler and also has long-stay perks like kitchens, laundry facilities, and friendly staff. However, it may not be the best budget-friendly hotel for a month’s stay, so look at other options if you’re planning to go.
If you’re not ready to fly internationally, Expedia recommends Seattle as its exclusive travel destination in the U.S. It’s the perfect destination if you like coffee and “beautiful views of mountains, rainforests, volcanoes and rolling ocean.”

According to Ditakavi, Portugal should be on your list because it has “the lowest crime rate in Europe and the most beautiful beaches.” While Hotels.com recommends the country’s capital, Lisbon, Ditakavi mentions places like Porto and Faro that are worth checking out during your solo travels in Portugal.
There’s also plenty to see and do, “from surfing and sightseeing to its stunning castles, magical harbors and rocky cliffs.” If you’re not socializing, Lisbon can be a great place to make some new friends as it’s “one of the best cities for socializing”. If you’re a foodie, Ditakavi recommends taking a food tour to try “some of Portugal’s beautiful port wines and seafood.”

According to one solo traveller, Budapest is good for anyone who is “looking to relax” and recommends the Continental Hotel Budapest as a good place to stay while you’re there. However, you may want to find a more budget-friendly Airbnb for part of your month-long stay, as well as depending on how much you want to spend.
For anyone looking to get off the beach, you might want to spend a month in Miami. A solo traveler from Hotels.com recommends this South Florida city as “fun” and “safe.” Miami is one of the most walkable cities in Florida and one of the most walkable cities in America overall. Explore the colorful beaches, grab a selection of Cuban coffee and party the night away amidst the neon lights.
Another great beach destination for solo travelers is Belize, according to Hotels.com. One solo traveler said he “felt safe and secure” during his stay at the Harbor View Boutique Hotel and Yoga Retreat in Belize City, while another traveler said the staff at the San Ignacio Mystic River Resort made their trip memorable.
Even if Mexico is on your bucket list, you may not know where to go for just a month in Mexico. Hotels.com recommends Oaxaca, with one user saying they are “very safe and feel welcome as a solo traveler” while staying at the Nana Vida Hotel Oaxaca. This is also a great place for foodies, as you can try authentic Mexican cuisine while tasting local tequila and mezcal cocktails.
According to Ditakavi, “Few places combine culture, relaxation and adventure like Bali, making it one of the best places to travel solo. Plus, it’s “one of the cheapest places in the world,” which is perfect if you’re on a budget but still want to extend your trip. If you need a break from checking your email or zooming in on meetings, Bali offers retreats to volcanic mountains and vibrant coral reefs.

However, outside of Bangkok, you’ll also find Thailand’s must-see waterfalls, beaches and floating villages.
