Originally launched as a single-day event in 1991 for members of the LGBTQ community to visit Walt Disney World, GayDays Orlando is now a festival that draws more than 150,000 attendees to dozens of people citywide.
This year’s Gay Days will take place from May 31 to June 5, and Doubletree by Hilton Orlando is the host hotel at Seaworld.
Sonoma, California
Located just one hour north of San Francisco, historic Sonoma is the gateway to the famous Sonoma Valley wine region and more than 400 wineries. It is also home to prestigious restaurants, relaxing spas and breathtaking beauty.
The best way to experience it all is by attending the Vineyard’s Gay Wine Weekend. Going strong for more than 10 years, this year’s July 14-16 event includes vineyard tours, winemaker dinners and several parties, as well as a new host venue, the luxury Vintners Resort.
New Orleans, Louisiana
New Orleans is a city full of rich traditions, delicious Cajun and Creole cuisine, and a popular nightlife. It’s also a city with a long history of being a haven for LGBTQ residents and visitors — the exiled New Orleans Cafe Lafitte, founded in 1933, is one of America’s longest-running gay bars.
Another testament to the Big Easy’s welcoming nature is Southern Decadence, a weekend of drag shows, bar events, pool parties, community events and more. Going strong for more than 50 years, this year’s event is expected to attract more than 300,000 attendees from September 1st to September 5th.
Hong Kong, China
From rolling green mountains and towering skyscrapers to ancient temples and modern museums, Hong Kong is visually stunning. It also has a sophisticated fusion of Eastern and Western cultures, which has helped foster a vibrant and visible LGBTQ community.
The city’s many positive attributes are the reason why it was chosen as the first destination in Asia to host the Gay Games, which will be held from November 3 to 11.
Expected to be attended by 7,000 participants and 25,000 visitors, the Games are said to feature various sporting events, opening and closing ceremonies, a festival village, arts and cultural events.
