PEY-ROO – Becoming fluent in a second language (or third or fourth) is always an amazing feat and an amazing skill.

Unfortunately, we all have the right opportunity or gift of language to be fluent. And even if you can speak another language fluently, there’s the second hurdle of looking like a native speaker.

Then there’s YouTuber Ford Quarterman, who does Second Language in his own way.

In this video, he looks like he’s fluent in Spanish, but he’s also very…Southern, American Southern. It’s a fact he certainly doesn’t try to hide or change when he puts out his own unique brand of Spanish, which he calls “Gringo Redneck Spanish.” A “scientist” took us on a tour of a lake in Peru, which he named the “Gatorade Lake” and explained where Gatorade’s electric blue flavor comes from. (How “electric” tastes like, we may never know. But I’m out.)

His uniquely accented Spanish is as charming as it is hilarious.

If you’re getting a little hot under the collar thinking I’m making fun of someone who’s doing his best to speak a foreign language, I have one more thing to tell you – he started. It’s funny because it’s something he’s used to doing for the masses. Because sometimes it’s fun to exaggerate your stereotypes.

In real life, Quarterman describes himself as a “gringo in love with Latin America.” With that love, he drove from the states to Argentina and then back to Mexico to settle down and live his dream. In this video, you can hear him speaking in Spanish as he explains why he chose Mexico as the place he wants to live and be.

As Quarterman says, “Adios, Mis amigers!”
