Emmy voting is closed, but for those who can’t get enough, dozens of costumes from Emmy-nominated shows have taken over the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) museum in downtown Los Angeles.
The exhibit features costumes from more than 22 shows, 13 of which were nominated by the Emmys in three different award categories: Season, Contemporary, and Fantasy/sci-fi. The series will continue till November 5.
Costumes on display include all of “Pam and Tommy,” the royal gown of “Bridgerton,” and the red swimsuit worn by Jane Smart in “Hacks.”
FIDM Fashion Design Chair Nick Veres highlights some of his favorite outfits. Verreos says Difference“Of course, all the costumes are highlights, but the Emmy nominees are the real stars of the show.”
“The Wonderful Mrs. Maisel”

“These costumes from ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ are season four as the series moves into the 1960s. While it’s generally a 50s picture, you’ll see elements of the 60s sneak in, like the big bucket hat Midge’s mom wears.

“Another favorite is ‘The Great One’. Of course, this is Catherine the Great, the Russian monarch. It’s all about prosperity. The fashion designer says she wants to bring sex back, so it’s all about busting chests and sexy men! We were presented with this beautiful crown dress, which was inspired by Russian traditional clothing, but again, they wanted to make it a little sexier, so they exposed her shoulders. It is very rich and gold. It’s time for Catherine’s catwalk.”
“Hijacking”

“I like some modern outfits like ‘Hack’. Actress Jean Smart wore a printed dress from the Casablanca brand, and it almost didn’t make the show. why? The brand is prominently displayed on the top of the tunic, so they had to clear it legally first. The costume designer said she tried and tried to find the brand – finally, they cleared the room 2 days before filming.
“Moon Knight”

“Last but not least – in the fantasy/sci-fi category – ‘Moon Knight’. We have Mr. Knight’s white cloth and cowhide costume. The exhibit also features an actual Moon Knight costume inspired by an Egyptian god, and has 803 pattern pieces. It was made in London. But he had to be sent to Budapest, Hungary, where they filmed the show.
