Green Arrow’s armor expands on the first edition of his latest solo series with a longbow that fires technologically enhanced wool and chainsaw arrows.
When Roy Harper’s daughter Lian Harper mysteriously appears in the distant future, Oliver Queen fires a shot. Trapped in this secret location, Oliver rescues Leanne from an oncoming Maniac by blasting one of his chainsaw arrows in the head. He quickly leads Leah to safety, but not before warning her of the dangers of the high-tech environment they’ve found themselves in.
A new look for Green Arrow
Green Arrow’s stylish new outfit and weaponry — first seen by series writer Joshua Williamson in February 2023 — includes armor plating, a neon green mesh pattern on his arms and legs, and a longbow that extends for a hunting sight to help aim. While the details of the acquisition of this technology remain secret, all indications point to the Green Arrow taking on the new form after 2022, bound for space. Dark crisis on endless lands.
Dark crisis on endless lands #6 The Justice League concludes by returning to Earth for its epic battle with Deathstroke. Oliver was the only member of the League lost in the transition, and Green arrow #1 opens with him washing up on the shores of an alien planet. A strange twist of fate reminds Oliver of the event that first turned him into the Green Arrow — when he was stranded on an island and forced to use his arrow and other tricks to survive.
Apart from offering a new outfit for the main character, Green arrow #1 also brings triumphant moments that show the Arrow family — Black Canary, Roy Harper and Connor Hawke — teaming up to find Oliver’s way. In an interview with CBR, Williamson teased more teamwork in future installments of the series. “I wanted to start the book by telling people what it’s going to be about, about family and about family. [a] “Family Reunion,” he said. “To get the ball rolling, we want to have some family together with the fact that Ollie is missing. We go into it with Roy, Black Canary and Connor, just looking for him to drive the story and hit the ground running… They have great chemistry together, and that’s behind it.” It was motivation.
Green arrow #1 was written by Williamson, illustrated by Sean Isaacs and colored by Romulo Fajardo Jr. The issue has a main cover by Izakse and variants by David Nakayama, Ijikure and Frank Cho and Sabine Rich. Green arrow #1 is now on sale from DC.
