COBB COUNTY, GA – Georgia’s first medical marijuana dispensary will open its doors Friday in Cobb County, making it legal for patients to purchase medical cannabis oil.

Channel 2’s Richard Elliot Earlier, the Georgia Medical Cannabis Commission unanimously reported that the Georgia Access Medical Cannabis Commission has approved two companies to begin distributing medical cannabis oil to the more than 27,000 Georgians currently on public registry.

Thanks to the vote, the Trulieve Medical Marijuana Dispensary in Marietta will open at 10 a.m. Friday.

Until now, it was legal to possess and use medical cannabis oil in Georgia, but it was illegal to grow it here or bring it across state lines.

Truelieve is one of two companies in Georgia ready to help.

Shannon Cloud tells Elliott that she has worked for nine years to get the bill passed. As a result, her daughter used the oil to treat a rare genetic disorder.

“It’s an exciting day,” Claude said. Channel 2 action news. “Patients can meet people on the street, grow the oil at home, get it from other states, and many people take great risks to even get the oil they need for their medicine,” he said.
