Georgia Tech transfer defensive lineman Akello Stone committed to Ole Miss

Oxford, Miss. – Georgia Tech transfer defensive lineman Akello Stone announced his commitment to Ole Miss on Twitter Friday.

The 6-foot-2, 280-pound Stone had 12 tackles, one sack and one pass breakup for Georgia Tech in his third year with the team in 2022.

According to Jackson Caudell with Georgia Tech SI.com, “Stone was one of the spring game captains for the Yellow Jackets and was awarded the Rock Purdoni Outstanding Defensive Lineman Award after the game. Stone is expected to be a big part of the defensive line rotation this season…”

He will be a redshirt sophomore at Oxford this fall with two years of eligibility remaining.

Stone is a native of Savannah, Georgia (class of 2020 from Jenkins High School). He was ranked the 39th defensive lineman in the country and the 90th overall player in the state of Georgia.

Before committing to Georgia Tech, Stone had offers from Army, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Missouri, Troy, Tulane, UAB, Wake Forest and West Virginia.with others.

Ole Miss defensive line coach Randall Joyner was Stone’s primary recruiter.
