THE FLATS –Cameron Tringale and Matt Kuchar see their seasons end at BMW Championship … Anders Albertson and Paul Haley II competing in Korn Ferry Tour Finals … Tyler Strafaci and Andy Ogletree enjoy good weekends in Canada and Korea … More details below in this week’s Georgia Tech #ProJackets Report.
*****
TRINGALE, KUCHAR END SEASON AT BMW CHAMPIONSHIP
Cameron Tringale and Matt Kuchar saw their FedEx Cup playoff runs and 2022-23 PGA Tour seasons come to a close last weekend at the BMW Championship in Wilmington, Del. For the second time in three years, Georgia Tech will not have an alumnus at the season-ending Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club.
Kuchar, one of two players to have qualified for the FedEx Cup playoffs in all 16 seasons of its existence and has the second-most top-10 finishes in those events (19), tied for 35th place at Wilmington Country Club with a 2-under-par total of 282, finishing his season at No. 64 in the FedEx Cup points standings. Tringale, who entered the playoffs inside the top 30 necessary to compete at East Lake, missed the cut at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and finished 63rd at the BMW and tumbles back to No. 47.

HALEY II, ALBERTSON PLAYING WITH HOUSE MONEY
Paul Haley II and Anders Albertson, who are making return trips to the PGA Tour after both finishing among the top 25 in points during the Korn Ferry Tour’s regular season, continued their 2022 season last weekend in the first event of the Korn Ferry Tour Finals.
Albertson, who missed the cut in his last six events of the regular season and finished 25th on the points list, ended his slide with a tie for 18th place as his namesake event, firing rounds of 70-67-66-65 to finish 16-under-par. Haley, who finished third on the points list, stayed with Albertson through the first 54 holes before posting a 76 Sunday to tie for 65th at 8-under-par.
Both players will be making a second foray into the top level of professional golf. Albertson was a full member in the 2018-19 season, while Haley will return for the first time since 2013. They can enhance their 2022-23 status with high finishes in the Finals earnings list, though Albertson will sit out this week’s Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship in Columbus, Ohio.
Seth Reeves, who finished outside the top 125 on the PGA Tour this season, needs to finish among the top 25 in Finals earnings to retain his privileges, but missed the cut in Boise.

STRAFACI POSTS BEST SEASON FINISH IN CANADA
Tyler Strafaci posted his best finish of the season on the PGA Tour Canada last weekend by tying for 14th place at the CentrePort Canada Rail Park Manitoba Open. Though he was far off the lead in terms of strokes, the 2020 U.S. Amateur champion was in the top-5 entering Sunday’s final round before carding a 71 and finishing at 14-under-par 274. He moved from No. 122 to No. 83 in the Fortinet Cup points standings. The performance ended a string of four missed cuts or withdrawals.
Luke Schniederjans tied for 21st at 12-under-par 276, while J.T. Griffin tied for 51st at 7-under-par 281. They sit 35th and 38th, respectively, on the Fortinet Cup points list.
Four events remain on the 2022 schedule, beginning with the CentrePort Canada Rail Park Manitoba Open next week after a week off.

OGLETREE FINISHES HIGH IN ASIAN TOUR INTERNATIONAL SERIES
International travel takes some getting used to. Andy Ogletree posted his highest finish of the year in three Asian Tour International Series events, tying for 15th place last weekend at the series event in Korea. The 2019 U.S. Amateur champion posted an 8-under-par total of 276, highlighted by a third-round 64 in which he ascended to a share of the lead.
Ogletree had tied for 57th the weekend before in Singapore, and had missed the cut in his first try at the International Series event in London in early June.
As part of his agreement to play in the very first LIV Golf Series event, which was held in June in London, Ogletree received a two-year exemption to compete on the Asian Tour, playing alongside several other golfers who participated in LIV events, such as former South Florida All-American Chase Koepka, Clemson star Turk Pettit, 2021 U.S. Amateur champion James Piot, and Oklahoma State All-American Peter Uihlein.
The Asian Tour has added two more International Series events to its schedule, November 3-6 in Rabat, Morocco and Nov. 10-13 in Cairo, Egypt.

DUVAL WINS CHARITY SKINS GAME
Former No. 1 player in the world David Duval, who is a rookie this season on PGA Tour Champions, made more of his share of sensational shots during his highly decorated PGA Tour career. Even though Tuesday’s Charity Skins Game for the benefit of the Schenectady Boys and Girls Clubs wasn’t loaded with the kind of pressure he used to battle every week, he still gave the estimated 1,100 fans at Mohawk Golf Club quite a treat.
Duval, the son of Schenectady native and former Champions Tour member Bob Duval and the grandson of the late Stanford Golf Club head pro Hap Duval, was slightly blocked from the green by some trees, but still carved his approach shot to within 6 feet and then made the birdie putt on the 18th hole to walk away with the skins title.
