Offense is king in college football these days and having one is essential if a team plans to compete for conference titles and playoff spots. Georiga Tech is facing a tough schedule full of teams with a good offense and it will be a tough thing to navigate each week.
Georgia Tech’s defense After having a terrific defense in 2022, he is hoping for a big improvement in 2022. Hope the secondary, which brought in five turnovers to add depth, will be better, and Georgia Tech’s pass rush will be even better with a fully healthy Keion White. For Georgia Tech to have any hope of improving on their winning record this season, the defense is going to take a big leap and stop any offense.
So who has the best offense facing Georgia Tech this season? Who is the worst? Let’s break it down below (note: I didn’t include Western Carolina).
Level of opponent offenses
11. Duke
Mike Elko’s first season with the Blue Devils hasn’t been bright, but there is hope for the future. The 2021 disaster could be a minor disaster.
There is currently a quarterback competition between Jordan Moore and Riley Leonard, neither of whom have played very much. Stud running back Matteo Durant is gone, as is leading receiver Jake Bobo. Jaylon Calhoun is a good option on the outside, but that’s about it. The offensive line has the potential to be decent and was underrated last year, but the overall lack of talent at the skill position and uncertainty at quarterback make Duke a worse offense than Georgia Tech in 2022.
10. Virginia Tech
The Hokies are going to have questions at every level of their offense under new head coach Brent Pry.
Quarterback is an ongoing competition and Marshall transfer Grant Wells is the favorite to win the job. Wells He looks promising as a freshman in 2020, but struggled with consistency and accuracy last season.
Virginia Tech is also replacing its leading rusher, top two receivers and key offensive linemen. They could end up being a productive unit, but until some questions are answered, it’s fair to wonder if Virginia Tech’s 2022 offense will be any good.
9. UCF
UCF won’t be a terrible offense, but there is uncertainty that the Golden Knights will get anything out of the quarterback position.
Mikey Keene filled in after Dillon Gabriel went down with an injury, but he was only average. Ole Miss transfer John Rhys Plumlee is a talented runner but struggles to throw. No matter who plays well, this offense will be strong.
UCF has speed at the talent position with running backs Mark-Anthony Richards and Johnny Richardson and wide receiver Ryan O’Keefe. Only those people make this dangerous class.

8. Clemson
If Clemson fixes its offense, it could be a national championship contender. If not, another season of falling short of high expectations is on the way.
Much will depend on the progress of quarterback DJ Yougalley. He was loaded with talent but was uncomfortable in the pocket last season and struggles to throw. The Tigers ranked 100th in total offense and 103rd in passing offense last season.
Clemson has a potential star running back in Will Shipley. At receiver, Clemson looks for someone who can be created between Beaux Collins, Joseph Ngata, or EJ Williams.
Georgia Tech will go see how much this Clemson offense has improved on September 5th.
7. Pit
After being one of the nation’s top offenses last season, Pitt is heading into the 2022 season with a few questions.
Quarterback Kenny Pickett and wide receiver Jordan Addison are the two players missing. Addison is at USC and Pickett is in the NFL, which means Pitt has new faces at key positions. USC transfer Kedon Slovis is the favorite to start at quarterback and will have the benefit of having the best offensive line in the ACC blocking for him.
Running back Israel Abanikanda is back and Akron transfer Konata Mumpfield could be the team’s top receiver. The experience and talent is there, but it will be up to Slovis to make sure the passing game doesn’t falter. The run game also needs to be more effective.
6. Florida State
In the year I am bullish on Florida State’s offense in 2022 mainly because I think it will be a strong running game and head coach Mike Norvell is a strong play caller.
Quarterback Jordan Travis will need to make strides as a pass rusher for this offense, but he’s also a formidable run threat. Treshawn Ward, Lawrence Tofali and Oregon transfer Trey Benson form a solid backfield trio.
The wide receivers and offensive line, however, are question marks. The Seminoles have made quite a few moves at wide receiver, but none have been proven.

5. North Carolina
The Tar Heels must replace perennial starter Sam Howell and starting running back Ty Chandler, but coordinator Phil Longo has shown he can keep the offense going and I expect them to.
Either Jacoby Criswell or Drake Maye will be the starter at quarterback and both will have the benefit of throwing to the best receiver in the ACC, Josh Downs. Downs caught over 100 passes last season and looks like a future first-round pick.
Brit Brooks is set to replace Chandler and looks ready to get the job done. If the offensive line is together, this can be a very good offense
4. Virginia
Virginia is this high for one reason and that is their passing attack.
Quarterback Brennan Armstrong is one of the ACC’s best and has what I think is the best passing team in the conference. The rest of the offense is a big question mark.
The Cavaliers couldn’t run the ball last season and new coach Tony Elliott wants to run the ball this fall. The entire offensive line is also gone and that creates problems for the strong passing game.
If Virginia can get something out of the running game and a good offensive line game, it could be very high on this list.
3. Be Miss
The Rebels will have to replace several star players, but Lane Kiffin is going to get the job done regardless of the offense he trains.
USC transfer Jackson Dart or Luke Altmeier will replace Marr Corral at quarterback and both have question marks, but they are talented.
The running game should be strong with former five-star running back Zach Evans in transfer and the wide receiver group is also talented.
The Rebels may not be as good as last year’s offense, but they will still be a strong team.
2. Miami
With new offensive coordinator Josh Gattis, Miami is poised to take a big step forward on offense this season.
The Hurricanes have a budding superstar in quarterback Tyler VanDyke and talented playmakers around him. The offensive line has plenty of experience.
If some young, former blue-chip recruits can take steps forward at receiver and running back, this is a team to watch out for.
1. Georgia

Georgia’s defense got the most credit last season, but their offense was one of the best in the country and that will be the case again in 2022.
Quarterback Stetson Bennett is back and regardless of what people think of him, he gets the ball where he needs it, to his players, and plays with his feet when needed.
The running game needs to replace Zamir White and James Cook, but Kendall Milton and Kenny McIntosh are a good pairing to do so.
The passes may be among the best in the country. The Bulldogs have three elite-level tight ends: Brock Bowers, Darnell Washington and Aric Gilbert. AD Mitchell, Ladd McConkey and Kearis Jackson form a dangerous receiving corps.
The offensive line will be strong again and this will be the best offense Georgia Tech will face in 2022.
