Georgia Tech is hoping some of the backups and reserves from last year’s team are ready to play a bigger role on the defensive line this season. Georgia Tech, one of the worst running backs in the ACC last season, tried to revamp their defensive line with some transfers, but they took a few late turnovers.

One thing is for sure, Georgia Tech is going to be happy to have Keon White back from injury. White was a highly rated transfer heading into last season from Old Dominion, but an injury forced him to miss the first eight games. He had 19 losses last season at Old Dominion and is a candidate to be eliminated this season.
The young men Georgia Tech has recruited over the past few years should step up in a big way this season. Kyle Kennard is one of those guys and has seen his playing time increase in each of the last two seasons. Both sacks will have to improve from Kennard’s game-to-game consistency in last season’s upset win against North Carolina.
The interior appears to be led by TK Chimedaza and Zeke Biggers. At 6-6 341 LBS, Biggers should be an effective force against the run and Tech should be him. First, he played in 9 games and his position isn’t to put up a lot of stats, but rather to control the gap and free up linebackers to make plays.

Chimeza played in eight games last season, starting three of them. He still seemed to be back from an injury that would keep him out of the 2020 season, but he hopes to return to playing like he did in 2019.

This will be a highly competitive class in fall camp and there are guys pushing for playing time. Former South Carolina transfer Maquis Scott played in 11 games last year but was ineffective. Western Illinois transfer Daniel Carson hopes to make an impact inside as well.
Kevin Harris was a highly-rated recruit and transferred from Alabama to Georgia Tech, but despite being a terrific athlete, he has yet to make a big impact on the field. He has the tools to be a good player, but he hasn’t put it together yet.
Josh Robinson, Sylvan Yonjoun, Noah Collins, Akello Stone and D’Quan Dawes are all guys who have seen action and will compete in fall camp. I think all of these guys will see action early in the season as Georgia Tech tries to figure out its rotation, but things will slow down as the year goes on.

UCLA transfer Christian Burklater is another transfer coming to UCLA who was injured at UCLA and did not see any action.
Georgia Tech brought in two linebackers in the 2022 recruiting class, KJ Miles and Horace Lockett, and the defense wasn’t very good last year, so I could see them pushing for spots in fall camp. In the end, I think it will be a growth year for both of them.

Overview:
I think it was this position group that I was most concerned about going into the year. Tech hasn’t been able to produce to this point in his career, and he’s faced with an injury that forced him out of the year.
There’s a chance some young players like Miles, Lockett or Burkhalter can come in and make a big impact, or guys like Harris and Collins can jump forward, but this team doesn’t give me a lot of confidence going into the team right now. Season.
