After being selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the sixth round of the 2022 MLB draft, former Georgia Tech pitcher Zach Maxwell has signed a contract with the team.
Because Maxwell signed this contract, he was unable to return to Georgia Tech to finish his college career. It could not be, but it is official to sing with him on Friday.
Maxwell had a good pre-draft process after a shaky season with Georgia Tech in 2022, which allowed him to be drafted ahead of many other considerations. At 6-6 275 lbs and a good fastball, he has the tools to be a successful pitcher if coached and developed in the minor leagues.
Maxwell is one of eight players from Georgia Tech drafted in this year’s draft, the most in the ACC and fourth most in the nation.
I wish her the best of luck in her next step.
