Dear Yellow Jacket fans

Hard to believe it’s already February! I hope you and yours had a wonderful holiday season and first month of the new year.

As I mentioned in my last letter, I want to be sure to take the opportunity to meet with you and give you some information about what is going on in and around Georgia Tech athletics. Here’s the latest from The Flats:

Football season tickets

Football tickets for the 2023 season went on sale this week. It’s an exciting time for Georgia Tech football with alumnus Brent Key taking over the leadership of the program in December. He has assembled a fine staff, organizing more than 80 championships at all levels of football. Before season tickets go on sale, deposits are much higher than we’ve experienced in recent years.

Ticket memberships are a vital part of our success – for our team on the field, for recruitment and for the overall financial vision of our program. So one of the biggest ways you can contribute to the future success of Georgia Tech football is by becoming a season ticket member. The per-game ticket price for our seven-game home schedule dropped 94% of all seats in 2023 (and remained flat the rest of the season, making Tech season tickets one of the greatest values in the competitive Atlanta sports entertainment market).

The technology way Nil Collective

You may have seen last month that The Tech Way — a collection of names, images and likenesses — was officially launched last month, founded and run by Georgia Tech fans. Ken Sugiura of Atlanta Journal-Constitution Just this week he wrote a very informative article about Techway – click over here to read.

The landscape of college athletics has changed dramatically since the NCAA began allowing student-athletes to use NIL opportunities in July 2021. NIL opportunities are now an integral part of the student-athlete experience. A strong, organized collective like The Tech Way is an important way to provide student-athletes with a world-class experience here at Georgia Tech. Please consider supporting our student-athletes by contributing to Tech Way and/or Georgia Tech student-athlete specific NIL opportunities. Click here to learn more.

Student-Athlete Performance Center

Finally, as you may know, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents approved construction of the new 105,000-square-foot Student-Athlete Performance Center last year.

When I arrived in October, I felt it was very important that our new football coach have significant input into the design of the SAPC. So, one of my first orders of business with Coach Key after he was hired permanently in December was to go over the SAPC plans, get his input and work with the facilities team to incorporate his ideas on how the building could make a positive impact. Tech football specifically.

I am pleased to announce that we have now completed the placement program for SAPC. The state-of-the-art facility will house all areas that directly affect the day-to-day activities of our student-athletes, including a new weight room and conditioning area, an athletic training room and a medical support area. Mental health services and nutritional support. It also features newly expanded space dedicated to our football program, including meeting spaces and office space. In addition, along with Coach Key, as well as other coaches and entities, the SAPC includes areas dedicated to sports science research and data analytics – areas that can be different for us here at Georgia Tech!

Regarding the schedule, the design phase of the building is now underway. Demolition of the current Edge/Rice building is scheduled to take place following the upcoming football season and SAPC is on track for completion in early 2026.

Thank you again for your support of Georgia Tech athletics and our world-class student-athletes. Have a nice month.

best regard

J Bat.
