Superior – While the recent rain has put a damper on outdoor activities for many, photographer Jed Carlson wandered through Billings Park between rain showers and found plenty of activity among the animals there.

Washburn artist Jamie Penny-Ritter likes to say it’s “the largest collection of northern Wisconsin travel posters in the history of the world,” referring to her work at Bemused Gallery and Studio.

The UWS graduate started designing and selling hyperlocal posters eight years ago, and their popularity has only grown over time. Visitors to Duluth International Airport can see a display of 32 of her prints.

She has designed over 160 posters, from local favorites such as the Aerial Lift Bridge and Madeleine Island Ferry to iconic landmarks such as the Gordon Fire Tower.

Top schools filed suit.

Earlier this month, the high school district filed a lawsuit against Krauss-Anderson Construction Co. and one of its contractors in Douglas County Circuit Court.

The suit seeks to recover $247,534 in costs the district was required to pay after an April 2018 fire delayed construction at Cooper Elementary School.

Earlier this week, the Spartans finished second at the Superior Invitational, while the Tigers finished fourth.
