CrossFit LLC, the company behind the “fitness sport” and associated gyms around the world, has a new CEO. The company announced in a letter sent to employees and co-owners men’s health, The CEO will be Don Fowle, a former US Navy commander and technology executive. The announcement was made on the eve of the CrossFit Games, the biggest event on the company’s annual calendar.

The last two and more years have been challenging for the company to say the least. With the presence of the Covid-19 pandemic that has closed gyms worldwide, founder and CEO Greg Glassman resigned in the wake of the racist comments and controversy that rocked the CrossFit community. He then sold the company in June 2020 to Eric Rosa, who took over as CEO. Rosa’s stay was successful; Along with maintaining overall growth in affiliated gyms, a new boutique health care service, CrossFit Precision Care, was launched under his watch. Rosa has been candid about his mental health, announcing to staff and partners that he is taking time off to seek treatment for depression in 2021. Finally, in February 2022, he stepped down from his role to move to the position of chairman of the board.

The current role is taken by Don Fowle, a former US Navy SEAL who has extensive experience at top companies specializing in growth and development. Most recently, he was CEO of Atos, a smart apparel company for athletes and service members. Prior to that, he served as Head of Operations for Pinterest, VP of Global Online Operations for Facebook, and Manager of Online Sales and Operations at Google.

There are over 13,000 CrossFit affiliates who have changed the lives of millions of people. But we’re just getting started. Our mission is to share CrossFit with the rest of the world, so our partners and coaches can help and inspire the tens of millions of people we have yet to reach.

Fowl has been doing CrossFit for eight years, the company said.
