MIL Corporation has named Leslie Taylor, former deputy commander of the Naval Air Systems Command, as vice president and general counsel of the company’s defense business unit.

The 37-year-old Navy aviation veteran will lead the execution of the unit’s strategic growth plan and direct delivery to customers, Miel reported Monday.

Taylor was previously under surveillance. She was the first female executive director of the Aircraft Division at the Naval Air Warfare Center, overseeing investment efforts, fleet power advisors, and technical and business processes to modernize operational systems at NAVAIR as deputy commander.

She began her Navy career as a flight test engineer. The service branch is using the test and evaluation methods it developed for US Naval Aviation.

She Awards include the Department of the Navy’s Superior Civil Service Award, the Federal Career Bronze Award for Supervisor Excellence, and the Presidential Distinguished Executive Award.
