CHARLOTTE – The FBI is helping to investigate robberies and robberies at arcades and other businesses in Charlotte and Monroe.
Channel 9 has released a court document detailing all of the businesses targeted from May to November.
Eight armed robberies took place in Mecklenburg and Union counties, which were connected, court documents show.
Some businesses were hit more than once and $20,000 was taken from the suspects in one robbery.
“I wondered what could have happened,” said one witness, who did not want to be identified. “That’s why I stopped going.”
The woman was one of 10 people inside the Blue Dragon arcade on South Boulevard in May when two gunmen walked in and ordered everyone to the ground, police said.
“Oh, I’m scared,” she said. “I was very worried about what might happen. I didn’t know what they were going to do. “What they can afford.”
Police believe the Blue Dragon robbers hit the arcade on Valedale Road after the suspect tricked them into thinking he worked for Amazon.
One of them was wearing an Amazon delivery suit and carrying an Amazon box, according to the warrant. When the employee opened the door at the Skill Games Arcade, the suspect knocked the employee to the ground and pulled out a large handgun.
Investigators said the gunmen stole $8,000 from Skill Games and $20,000 from Blue Dragon.
The woman inside the Blue Dragon said there was a long argument during the robbery.
“He was repeating himself and not doing what he asked, and he was pretending to shoot,” the witness said. “So I had to yell, ‘Open it now,’ to get the guy out of here.”
This was the woman’s first time at the arcade and she said she would never go back.
“The people that were working there, or the manager, or anybody,[they]weren’t trying to protect us,” she said.
Other businesses mentioned in the warrant:
- Midway Skill Arcade, West Highway 74, Monroe
- GMS Cyber Center, Patton Avenue, Monroe
- Express Mart, Patton Avenue, Monroe
- 601 Food Mart, Concord Highway, Monroe
