BRIDGEPORT — Quick Service Bicycle Shop plans to celebrate its 50th anniversary next month with an in-store party.
The family said bike shop owner Bev Reed and store employee Dave Crowe met with the Bridgeport Village Council on Tuesday to warn of the shop’s upcoming milestone and request the closure of a section of road in Etnaville. The event.
“My parents opened the store in 1973, and we wanted to do a little something for the community to celebrate.” Reed said.
The event is set for June 24 at the store located at 701 N. Lincoln Ave in Bridgeport. The day begins at 8 a.m. with a holiday bike ride through the Wheeling Heritage Harbor. A shop sale will be held from 10am to 2pm with a free barbecue lunch from 2-4pm which will include beer from the brewers and live music from the Fair May Band. All participants can enter for a chance to win a $50 gift card to the store.

Lawmaker Michael Shaheen expects the party to start around noon, so officials will close the area before 11 a.m. to allow enough time to divert traffic. He also advised Police Chief John Bumba or an official to conduct the proposed closure site before council approves it.
Reed and Crow invited members of the council to attend the event.
“We’ve been in Bridgeport for 50 years. There aren’t too many businesses. I’ve been there hard since the 90’s. We have a lot of people we’ve served over the years – equipment and bikes. Her[Reid’s]father-in-law and father-in-law made a lot of furniture for everyone in the area in the valley and we wanted to celebrate. said the crow.
It was initially thought the council could not approve the request due to a lack of quorum due to the resignation of Councilwoman Shirley Hamilton last month and the absence of Councilman Robert Bennington.
