It was a fusion of fashion runway, musical comedy and awards at the just concluded GAH-AWARDS held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Held under the theme ‘Promoting Sustainable Economic Growth through Skill Acquisition’, the event entertained the guests throughout the night.
The organization’s 10th anniversary and the graduation ceremony of the GMIT Fashion Academy in 2022 featured awards for the charity, Humanitarian Bank, Emerging Humanitarian of the Year and more.
The guests were also entertained by a runway show on wedding wear where graduates of GMIT Fashion Academy showcased their skills in making wedding gowns and bridal wear.
Founder, GAH-AWARDS and General Managing Director, GMYT Group, Princess Kelechi Oghene, said the company was planning to train at least 1000 people next year.
According to him, three graduate students were given 500,000, 300,000 and 200,000 initial money, just as 20 sewing machines were given to the graduating students.
This year we have given away over 300 machines and we are looking to give away at least 500 machines even without a sponsor.
In her keynote address, Angela Gide Jones, Institutional Advisor and Equity Investment Expert, Sewa Asset Management Limited, stated that the focus of GAH-AWARDS is to promote sustainable economic growth through skills acquisition and called for investments in innovation and skills acquisition. . “The future is shaped by the investments made today,” she said.
