Victoria Beckham “It’s more eccentric, more edgy and celebrating that sense of play,” she said after showing her Fall 2023 runway show. “I love tailoring; tailoring is really celebrating the journey of showing all the details.
This season she added her hair as texture, flowing from skirts, used as an accent and even in soft waves on models’ collarbones as necklaces. Beckham was inspired by works she saw at Art Basel Miami a few years ago, playing with unusual textures, incorporating them into curved skirts.
There were also several looks that were wired for the non-expandable edge.
“I’ve always wanted to dream, and when I was standing backstage, I saw those dresses come out with all the details, with the feather detail and the cover, it was everything to me. That’s what I dreamed about.”
The show comes in a triumphant season following the brand’s first ever profit.
Most of the Beckham clan was there to celebrate, with David, sons Cruz and Brooklyn, wife Nicola Peltz and little daughter Harper. Cruz wears head-to-toe VB logo denim with a resin finish and a cross-body strap bag. Beckham told WWD that he designed the jeans and front jacket combo himself, while Cruise whispered to guests seated in the front row that he was encouraging his mother to add menswear.
The busy designer doesn’t seem to have much interest in adding to her plate, joking, “So Cruise should be the creative director of this one.”
Beckham’s longtime best friend Eva Longoria flew in just for the day to see the show, and was on the brand’s debut last season. “I wondered how she would do on this show, and I think she did,” she said.
“I’m literally texting her that the coat is mine. But I’m lucky to have her stuff. I will go into her closet and borrow it.”
Longoria headed straight to the airport to prepare for the SXSW Film Festival, where her debut single “Flamin’ Hot” will premiere. “It’s a lot of fun, nerve-wracking fun. “I’m very nervous,” she says, looking forward to the March 11 screening.
