Milan – September’s Milan Fashion Week, which runs from September 20 to September 26, is set to be a packed affair, with 67 mostly physical shows, highly anticipated debuts and a host of returning designers.
Among the creatives presenting their first collections for the luxury houses is Marco De Vincenzo, known as Creative Director at Etro, who will make his debut at the helm of the historic Italian brand. For him, he has chosen a location on the outskirts of the city for the September 23 event, a few hours after Filippo Grazioli’s renewed vision for Missoni. This marks Grazioli’s first catwalk since joining the brand as creative director in March. He was already responsible for the resort and men’s spring collections through presentations earlier this summer.
The following day, September 24, two more highly-anticipated debuts are taking place: Salvatore Ferragamo, who attended last season’s Changing of the Creative Guard, returns with a code show designed by his newly installed creative director. Maximilian Davis, who has traditionally hosted presentations at Bally, is making his catwalk debut with a debut collection designed by Rugi Villaseñor, the Manila-born designer behind the Rude brand.
Moncler will celebrate its 70th anniversary that day with a runway show at 9pm CET.
According to the provisional calendar released on Friday by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, the week officially begins on September 20 with the Milano Moda graduate event, the fashion organizing body’s awards for a collection of graduates.
Although a few show slots are being allocated that night, fashionistas can expect the real action to begin on September 21st, when a collection of Italian designers and fashion professionals will be digitally displayed, followed by Antonio. After a few seasons of presentations, showroom appointments and a runway event in Russia last February, Marras is returning to the official calendar with an in-person runway show.
After that, others, Diesel and Fendi will follow. Although the latter brand is headed to New York Fashion Week to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the baguette handbag hit, WWD reports that it may include a tie-up with Marc Jacobs, whose spring 2023 collection is hitting Milan as usual. On the other hand, Anteprima, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, is opening its exhibition to the public.
Viveta and Stella Jean will return to the calendar on September 23 after a few years of absence.
As reported, Matti Bovain is coming down from London to Milan, supported by Dolce & Gabbana, in a physical show on September 25, this season Valentino- and Camera della Moda supported designers, Galib Gassanoff and Luca Lin from Act N.1 , will appear on September 22.
Next night, Camera della Moda will present 12 awards for the Sustainable Fashion Awards at La Scala Theater. Reportedly, the soiree will be hosted by actress Rossi De Palma.
Deadline will feature digital-only presentations including Mmusomaxwell, one of the few new names based in Johannesburg, backed and founded by designer Muso Potsane and Maxwell Boko.
The presentation program has not yet been released, and the final version of the calendar will be released on September 7, Camera della Moda said.
