BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Reminders of Sunday’s exhibition drive are still around. Jakia Winston’s family has lost a loved one. Four others were injured, and there are still skid marks all over the street, with several shots fired at neighboring businesses.

“I wasn’t surprised by how many people there were, I was surprised by how quickly it turned violent. People didn’t even think about it for a second,” said Brian Clark, manager of the Buffalo Electric Supply Counter.

Surveillance cameras at the Buffalo Electric Supply and Washing and Refrigeration Supply Company captured several trucks making donuts and burning. What looked like a police car was seen at one point and the lot was empty, but in the evening, the crowd returned and the exhibition continued to drive. That’s when things turned deadly.

“When one car hit another car, the driver got out of the car and started shooting. It happened in about three seconds,” Clark said.

An employee shared a video he took last month of a driver burning in the sun. It’s just another reminder that the exhibition driving problem is getting worse for some.

“It’s gotten worse in the last two months. You can just see the lines on the street and in the parking lot, even our parking lot, it happens all the time,” Calvin Osborne said.

Police have requested that part of the video be withheld for forty-eight hours while they continue their investigation. They were arrested after obtaining a warrant for murder.

Ronald White was taken into custody shortly after the shooting. A North Precinct officer observed him outside a vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident that led to the shooting.
