WNY P-TECH recently held a route selection ceremony. First-year students in the program announced the direction of their future studies.
“This statement is important because students begin taking their first college-level course in the second year of the program.” WNY P-TECH Principal William Smoak said. “This is an exciting time. This is the starting point for P-TECH students to start earning those college credits. Many of our students complete a third of their college degree before entering the JCC campus.
Ten students are entering the welding pathway, one of the largest cohorts to date, while five students are entering the CADD pathway, two are joining the machine tool pathway, and 6 are exploring one of P-TECH’s new fields of study – Mechatronics. For example, students entering the welding pathway will begin taking Welding 1200 the following year. Those entering the Mechanical Technology or Mechatronics fields of study will begin taking MCT 1240, Introduction to CADD.
