The main event of UFC London was supposed to be a match for the ages. Hometown hero Tom Aspinall was set to take on American fighter Curtis Blydes in a thrilling clash. Unfortunately, the fight ended tragically within seconds.

As Aspinall was backing away from the Blades, the Englishman’s right knee seemed to give way to him. Aspinall immediately crumpled to the ground, and the referee called for a stop after seeing his reaction. It was an anti-climactic finish to what should have been a spectacular main event at UFC London.

Even though things ended, Curtis Blaydes still took time to make sure Tom Aspinall was okay. The British UFC fighter posted a picture on Instagram of him and his opponent enjoying a beer after their fight. Aspinall shared this brief description of his new beer buddy.

“A beer makes everything better. What a man, big Curtis and the team popped up to say hi. Accidents happen unfortunately, tonight was just not my night.”

Aspinall shared a short message in the next post, thanking the UFC and medical staff for helping him. He also mentioned his beer session with the Blaydes in his message.

“I want to say a big thank you to the UFC, the doctors and paramedics who took care of me. But also for fans! For the messages you sent me and the support you gave me, during the fight and after the sudden injury. You are all wonderful!”

Hopefully, Aspinall will bounce back from this injury soon. The UFC sorely misses talent in the Octagon.
