Culver’s, the Midwest chain known for its buttery burgers and frozen custard, recently announced its switch from Pepsi to Coca-Cola, upsetting many of its longtime fans.

Telling the media that the transition is underway, the franchisee broke the news last Wednesday and said it would take some time for the nearly 900 restaurants spread across 26 states, FOX 6 reported.

The split with Pepsi means restaurants will no longer serve its signature and Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist and Tropicana drinks.

A viral off-menu Waffle House sandwich that started as a ‘pregnancy craving’ receives backlash from staff.

It’s unclear which Coca-Cola products will be offered, but the company owns Spire, Fanta and Minute Maid, in addition to several variations on the brand name.

News of the switch “ruined my whole day,” wrote one Twitter user.

In a tweet, the company confirmed the transition, but said many of Culver’s Signature Root Beer, Diet Root Beer, Dr Pepper and fresh brewed sweet and loose teas will still be available.

Another Twitter user wrote for Culver’s: “Had my last @culvers today. I’ll be back when they go back to @pepsi.”

Another Twitter user responded to a post about loyalty, writing that the company’s decision to remove Pepsi products “made me think.”

One Facebook user posted a comment on the company’s homepage saying she no longer goes to Culver’s because the restaurants I just excluded serve Coke products.

“Now you will be like them,” she wrote. “Sorry about that decision. You had the best Pepsi on tap. Now I have to find another restaurant that has Pepsi.”
