Los Angeles Dodgers star Clayton Kershaw was assigned to start the All-Star Game for the National League.
Perhaps Tony Gonsolin and Sandy Alcantara deserve more of their designation, but Kershaw, who has an incredible 2.13 ERA on the season, hasn’t let up.
Shohei Ohtani, the first hitter he faced in the game, led things off with a single.
However, Kershaw didn’t expect his recruit to bring his A-game.
Kershaw possesses one of the league’s best pick-and-roll moves, and he demonstrated that unique skill Tuesday night by retiring Ohta.
The two legends shared a smile afterward, and Kershaw continued to work.
The second hitter is Aaron Judge, who leads the New York Yankees in the league’s best record with 33 homers to his name.
He proceeded to hit the powerful slider with two outs on the scoreboard in quick fashion.

Amazing innings
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers walked away from future Hall of Fame shortstop Southpaw, putting one out at first with two outs.
Kershaw then walked out of the inning, striking out former MVP candidate Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
You have to give it to Kershaw: He had to face Otani, Judge, Devers and Guerrero in a row and came out unscathed.
That’s fourth in the American League elite, but Kershaw is the best and most consistent pitcher of his generation in terms of run defense.
His career 2.48 ERA is the number to focus on here: it’s truly impressive considering the amount of innings he’s pitched over the years.
When he decides to retire, Cooperstown will wait.
