“I actually created a palette of five beautiful floral prints that I envisioned in many different scales and colorways,” says Gordon. “I see this collection as a garden.”
Gordon and his team masterfully executed several looks, starting with the opening gown, a striped cotton blouse paired with a taffeta ball gown, which displayed a striking high-class gardener movement in keeping with true Herrera fashion.
Models Stella Maxwell and Karlie Kloss each had two looks. Maxwell sparkled in a mini yellow cabochon floral dress that highlighted Kloss’ height in her second look, a long-sleeved, yellow peony boy gown.
Seated in the front row were Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Martha Stewart and singers Ellie Goulding, Sabrina Carpenter and Becky Gee.
Standout pieces included a daringly dramatic body-hugging column dress with voluminous rosette sleeves on actress Kate Hudson last night at the Toronto Film Festival. Another eye-catching moment featured a mini yellow tentacle dress that seemed to float on the model.
But the showpiece of the show was Precious Lee’s closing gown, a strapless, bodycon black silk chiffon dress trimmed with tulle. Lee held the super train in her arms as she closed the show.
Gordon Herrera emphasizes that his ability to evolve each season is due to his ability to listen to the brand, especially women.
“If you pay attention to the women who wear your clothes, it’s not hard to keep up with the times,” says Gordon.
