Canadians reiterate travel plans that have been thwarted by flight nightmares

In recent weeks, thousands of delayed and canceled Canadian flights have caused serious problems.

In the last week of June, more than half of domestic and international flights at Canada’s major airports were delayed or canceled. The Epoc Times heard from three Canadians who were upset by their travel plans on June 30 for various reasons.

Wings and Prayer (with difficulty)

On the morning of June 30, Fetene Graceci was scheduled to fly from Montenton, New Brunswick to Winnipeg, Toronto, to attend the National Day of Prayer. But the wings and the prayer could not be answered. On her way to the airport, she received a notice from Westgate that the flight was delayed until late in the evening.

Once he arrived at the airport, Graceci spent 90 minutes queuing for a different flight, but failed.

“I never called. But I finally got to the front of the line and the women there were, thankfully, wonderful. All the staff, at least here in New Brunswick, were amazing. They only hold on to what they have been given, ”Gracechi said in an interview.

The staff told Gracechi that she might miss the flight to Toronto but that she could try. When Pearson arrived at the airport, an employee told her that she was too late and that she had moved in another direction and would fly the next day.

“I said, ‘If it is good, I will try to catch the flight,’” she recalls.

“I just ran. One of the scavengers is broken. Okay, where am I going? At this point, I am following the signs and I am giving this best shot. So I kept running. I’m completely dry – that’s raw [feeling where] Your chest is beating. ”

Gracechi arrived ahead of her to meet 20 people in the flight queue. Then, after boarding, the plane did not fly for at least 30 minutes. She finally arrived in Winnipeg at midnight and arrived at her hotel at 1 p.m.

“I think I was a rare person trying to make that flight,” she said.

“The saddest thing about me was a woman trying to get behind her daughter’s wedding. … People are used for practical airline systems. People are not used to that. ”

‘System Failure at Every Step’

On June 30, Kathleen Preston Air Canada was scheduled to fly from Regina to Montreal in Saskatchewan.5.

She said the flight was delayed three hours and 40 minutes due to a power outage.

“Then, 40 minutes later, they decided to fly to Saskatoon, not Montreal.

Air Canada has announced that it will fly to Montreal instead. Then they returned only to Saskatoon, then to Montreal. Preston returned safely and was told the flight had been canceled.

However, during the first Regina-Saskatchewan-Montreal travel program, she received a message that she had re-registered for the morning of July 1. The following message also states that the flight was canceled.

Then, on Friday morning, the dance family at the airport called and said, “They are booking you to go to Vancouver.” That flight could have taken her to Montreal via Vancouver, but she did not work and could not find another flight to do so.

And she is not sure if her money will be returned. “I filled out the airline’s rights form, and they told me, ‘Don’t wait to hear from us for a month,’” she said.

“This will be my first North America,” Preston called it “heartbreaking.” [championships] Seeing my dancers dance like a teacher. … And I think it was a little difficult for the kids, because they are in this big competition without a coach.

“When everything starts to recover, it’s time to move on to that recovery room and try to run my business. That big part is going to the competition,” she added.

“At every level it looks like a beautiful system failure, so I hope they solve it. If it’s a matter of staff, hiring people. If it is an organization, look for someone to help you.

8th grade French Immersion graduates are preparing for a week-long visit to Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec from June 30 at Echo St. Angela Merci in Eclipse St. Mary and Regina. However, a series of flight delays were canceled due to ineffectiveness.

Trevor Sobchyshyn’s daughter is among the victims.

“The kids were very happy and they had a lot of trouble last minute. She has raised money to prepare for it and has been working on a paper road for 1.5 years and now it is nothing, ”Sobchishin told the Epoc Times.

EF Tours is reimbursing an estimated $ 2,800 for a seven-day trip.

“Two years ago, in 2020, when COVID was hit for the first time and the world closed, all those trips were lost. There are no refunds and no travel vouchers, ”said Sobchishin.
