Business groups support pay raise for NOPD chief

NEW ORLEANS (PRESS RELEASE) – The New Orleans Chamber of Commerce and the River Region and NOLA Coalition applaud the New Orleans City Council’s decision to increase the salary of the next New Orleans Police Superintendent between $274,000 and $360,000. . The higher salary helps attract the best national talent to the NOPD superintendent position and is in line with the compensation of other key local leaders, such as the superintendent of schools and executive director of the Sewerage and Water Board.

Regarding the salary issue, the NOLA Coalition and Business Council are now encouraging the city and the International Association of Chiefs of Police to move quickly on the search process for the next NOPD chief.
