WEST FARGO – Spicy Pie is mixing things up in the Fargo-Moorhead pizza scene.
The company recently opened at the Holiday Inn at 3803 13th Ave.S. will open a Spicy Pie express style outlet on Tuesday, April 18, a company spokesperson confirmed.
According to Lexi Rosenthal, director of marketing and operations for Spicy Pie, it is replacing the Godfather pizza at the hotel’s Galleria restaurant.
The Godfather needed a new oven, and EPIC Companies, which bought Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express in December, wanted a local pizza company to serve its guests, Rosenthal said.
“It was the right time to make the switch,” Rosenthal said.
The godfather said the express exit was closed.
A new oven is being installed and Spicy Pie is setting up shop and should be up and running in a few weeks.
“We’re ready to go as soon as our kitchen is up and running,” Rosenthal said.

The offerings will be narrower than other Spicy Pie outlets to begin with. Hotel guests and other patrons can purchase an 18-inch cake, but takeout is not sold by the portion.
The menu includes Spicy Pie’s more popular specialty pizzas and some build-your-own options, Rosenthal said. There will also be garlic and sweets.
“We’re very happy to be there,” she said.
Spicy Pie currently has three locations:
- 322 Broadway N., downtown Fargo
- 745 32nd Ave. E., West Fargo
- 1100 N. Broadway, Minot, ND
The South Fargo Spicy Pie at 2640 52nd Ave.S., recently closed, Rosenthal said.
However, plans call for West Fargo to get a second Spicy Pin. Rosenthal said plans are underway for a restaurant in the Envy Building, located in The Lights residential and commercial complex at 3150 Cheyenne St., with the goal of opening by late summer to serve that community.

To update the Chick-fil-A drive
One of the busiest freeways in Fargo-Moorhead is getting an upgrade. Chick-fil-A at 4100 13th Avenue plans to extend the two-lane drive-thru around the building, according to city of Fargo building permits.
The work will include “adding new push and pull and associated station work to a two-line frontage (F2F) canopy above the order window and an order catering curtain over the delivery window.”
The estimated cost of the work is $300,000, according to permit records.
Junkin Market Days is scheduled for April 28-29 in West Fargo
Junkin Market Days, an indoor market featuring unique products from small business owners from six states, will be held in Butler on Friday, April 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 29. Building on the Red River Valley Plains in West Fargo.
The event features 100 small business owners selling boutique clothing and accessories, home decor, bath/body products, pet accessories, gourmet foods and more.
