FARGO – In downtown Fargo on Friday, May 5, Scoop N Dough Candy Co. Things got a little sweeter when he opened downtown for the summer. Scoop N Dough opened in early May 2018 at 206 Roberts Alley N.

The shop offers flavors like peanut butter cup, funfetti and coffee toffee and ice cream with flavors like mint chocolate chip, bubble gum and malt mountain. It also offers milkshakes, floats, gourmet popcorn and more.

Owner Josh Ulrich opened a second Fargo Scoop N Dough location in July 2021 in the Blue 32 retail center at 4600 32nd Ave.S. Both stores will celebrate their fifth year in business on Friday, May 19 with $1 ice cream.

Dakota Wine won gold at the National Wine Competition

In what they believe may be a first for a North Dakota winery, Dakota Wines took home gold at the Jefferson Cup Invitational Wine Competition.

Bob and Deb Groth of Dakota Vineyards and Winery in Colfax, North Dakota recently won a Jefferson Cup Award for their Prairie Sky White Wine.

The Grosses received bronze medals for Sundog Rose and Lonetree Red, as well as a silver medal for Roughrider Red.

“We are honored to be a part of the competition with other wonderful wineries and to have our wines tasted by experts from the Jefferson Cup Invitational,” said Deb Groth. “It means a lot to us to have our hard work recognized by this prestigious award. We look forward to sharing Prairie Skye and our other wines with our guests this season.”

For 23 years, the Jefferson Cup Invitational has been the only competition celebrating the best of wine producers from all of America’s wine regions.

Contest organizers invited wines from 25 states, based on tastings and competitions in the U.S. in 2022. At the end of the second day of this year’s tasting, 41 Jefferson Cup trophies were awarded to wines made from both vinifera grapes (the popular European variety). Grapes (such as Chardonnay and Cabernet) and non-vinifera grapes are grown in the harshest climates in the US.

While other local wine competitions primarily favor California wines, the Jefferson Cup prioritizes representing every wine-producing region in the country.

Dakota Vines opens for the season on Friday, May 12.

The US Small Business Administration is accepting applications for the THRIVE (Thrive, Hope, Rise, Innovation, Venture, Elevate) Emerging Leaders Reinstatement.

This free, six-month course is designed to help small business owners grow their businesses, create jobs and strengthen their communities.

The program offers participants the opportunity to work with a network of subject matter experts with experience in core business topics and other micro-sessions tailored to the specific needs of small businesses. The reimagined format eschews the one-size-fits-all model for group participation, problem-solving, and peer-to-peer interaction.

The initiative is open to small business owners and executives.

  • Have been in business for at least three years
  • Have an annual income of at least $250,000
  • Have at least one employee other than themselves
