BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Brevard County has issued a rabies alert after a raccoon tested positive this week.
The center of the rabies alert is at Everglades Street in Cocoa.
Officials said rabies activity can also occur outside of that area.
The alert will be in effect for the next 60 days.
Officials have advised residents to not let their pets run free and make sure to follow leash laws.
