“We were absolutely clear with Klim, every step of the way, ‘Hey, this is what we’re doing, this is what you have to do if you want to beat us, and he was doing it!
Unfortunately for Fedef, that would be the end of the rally, and open up the second step on the LN4 podium to Chris Sladek and John Sharps’ Honda Passport, who took eighth overall.
Fourth and fifth overall in 2WD came first and second, with Seamus Burke and Martin Brady leading the way with Michael Hooper and Claudia Barbera.
“We always have a good fight,” Martin Brady said on the podium. “Mike always keeps us honest. We know he’s not too far behind us.”
The two teams had some problems at the end of the week, but after a few calls, Hooper pulled back and kept the car in good control of the gap for the rest of the day.
Lucy Block took sixth overall in Fiesta Rally3 with DirtFish’s Michelle Miller in the co-driver’s seat, with Spencer Sherman and Boyd Smith behind them in seventh.
As previously mentioned, Sladek was eighth, while the father and son of Nathan and Elliott Odle were ninth, the last winner outside of the Super Rally.
Outside of those, 10th place went to Pat Gruzka, who was on Super Rally after burning out in SS2 on Friday.
Regional Rally victory was taken by the fan favorite Toyota Rav4 AP4 driven by Alejandro Perucina and engineered by Andres Bautista.
Considering they were still learning the car in the fourth round, the pair impressed by setting times that would have placed them in the top three nationally had they entered there.
“It was our first race out here at Ojibwe, so we weren’t sure what to expect.
“The roads were fast, wet, sandy, unlike anything we’ve been on before, but it was a really stressful weekend. At the beginning of the race, some issues remained in the first half of the day, and we were struggling with ourselves, some things with the car, but today was fun!
“We’re here, we’re done, the car is straight, we’re happy, but it’s definitely been a tough, long, stressful weekend.”
Second behind Perucina was Ryan George’s BMW M3, 15 minutes behind. George was the fastest 2WD car by over five minutes, and was followed on the podium by Jordan Harberer and Drew Staples.
The conclusion of the Ojibwe Forests Rally means teams will have just two more opportunities to get national points on the board, with the Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally in a month’s time and the Lake Superior Performance Rally in October to close out the season.
