Effective immediately, fully vaccinated sailors will no longer need to provide proof of a negative test to disembark from their cruise ship during a visit to Barbados. Unvaccinated sailors are still required to provide proof of a negative rapid antigen test taken on board within 48 hours of their ship’s arrival in Barbados.
“Barbados welcomes an average of 800,000 annual cruise passengers on more than 25 cruise lines to the island for the upcoming winter cruise season,” the tourism board said in a written statement. Officials have been diligent in efforts to reduce the spread of Covid-19 and ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
Cruise lines that pick up or drop off passengers in the island nation must conduct a health assessment of passengers, including requiring all passengers to submit a health questionnaire prior to boarding. Passengers who choose to stay in Barbados after the cruise must complete the immigration online entry/departure form at least 72 hours before arrival in port.
Barbados requires cruise lines to isolate passengers who test positive before boarding a homeport cruise.
Cruise lines scheduled for stops in Barbados over the next few months include Celebrity Cruises, MSC Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Regent Seven Seas, Silversea Cruises and Holland America.
