For those wondering what is going on at the former Topps location in Dunkirk earlier this week, it was answered shortly before this week’s recent Dunkirk Town Board meeting.
City of Dunkirk code enforcement officer Ryan Maurer said in a text message that construction is underway on the city’s future Under Five storefront. Dunkirk Deputy City Clerk Kyle Coughlin confirmed the suspicions of various board members when prompted before the meeting by relaying Moore’s message.
The building in question is a Benderson development. In the plaza of the former Topps location, across the street from the new Topps location, Kirk’s Jewelry and a variety of local businesses include Harbor Freight’s Quality Equipment store on Vineyard Drive.
Five Below is a discount store that focuses on items priced at $5 or less. Currently, the closest Five Below location is in Hamburg. Other nearby locations include Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Lockport and Erie, Pa.
