Babson’s Kiser was named a 2022 Meaningful Business 100 judge

Cheryl Kiser, executive director of Babson College’s Institute for Social Innovation, will serve on the expert international judging panel for the 2022 Meaningful Business 100 (MB100). The awards honor social entrepreneurs, sustainability leaders, corporate CEOs and influencers who are helping to achieve the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“As a judge, I’m excited to be at the forefront of learning and influencing how we identify what makes a good entrepreneurial leader,” Kiser said. “Whether it’s the head of sustainability at H&M or the founder of a Tunisian startup developing EVs for people with reduced mobility, MB100 teaches us about new models, ways and partnerships to create social and economic value simultaneously and sustainably.

Babson College is an academic partner for Meaningful Business. “Meaningful business is not just a partner in name, but thought and action,” Kiser said.

In addition to engaging in open dialogue with MB100 leaders from around the world, Babson students have the opportunity to work with these leaders on unique initiatives through Inventureships. Maria Cahale MBA’21 completed an internship with Translation Business last summer, helping to develop and execute the MB100 communications expansion strategy for 2021. “This role complements my Babson experience because it showed me how different entrepreneurs are tackling the SDGs and how I can approach sustainability throughout my career,” Kahale said.

The Institute for Social Innovation has offered meaningful business memberships to some Babson faculty, linking new and expanded content to their classrooms. “MB100 provides excellent teaching cases on how values-based leaders can drive social impact, sustainability and good governance,” Kiser said.

Candidates for MB100 can apply till August 19, 2022. Now in its fourth year, the MB100 annual awards program is supported by EY and Hogan Lovells.
