ARRI has published a tutorial showing how to assemble the ALEXA 35 lightweight kit. Even if you don’t want to shoot with the 35 anytime soon, this is highly recommended to watch. Explore how great engineering comes together.
The ALEXA 35 Lightweight Series includes several new and unique mechanical support units designed for single operators, small crews and lightweight rigging situations. The set can be purchased as a complete package including the camera. This lightweight kit combines the ALEXA 35 camera with Cine license, both LPL mount and PL to LPL adapter, B-mount battery plate, lightweight support with both 15mm LWS and 15mm studio rod support, shoulder baseplate and dovetail. In a video published as part of the ARRI Tech Talk series, product marketing manager Sean Dooley takes you through the process of building a lightweight kit and gives you a little information about each of the components and what they can be used for. Dedicated top, side and bottom components such as EVF support, top handle, bridge plate adapter, shoulder pad and side brackets make the ALEXA 35 a compact, low-profile, but convenient camera setup that can serve you well in a variety of solo shooting situations: shoulder, handheld or attached to the Easyrig. This new ARRI camera continues to impress us, and especially the original, it is. Flame 4. It will be interesting to learn more about the origins of the ALEV 4, but it will be even more interesting to explore how the extended dynamic range will look on the big screen. We bet there are quite a few productions shot with the ALEXA 35 for theatrical releases. Exciting times for cinephiles.
