PHOENIX – According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, westbound US 60 (the freeway) in Tempe will be closed to traffic this weekend (August 5-8) for maintenance and detours. The following are proposed weekend freeway restrictions on freeways in the Phoenix area, while drivers should plan ahead, allow extra travel time and check for alternate routes.
- Westbound US 60 is closed between Loop 101. (freeway price) and McClintock Drive from 10 pm Friday to 5 am Monday (August 8) for freeway maintenance. The northbound and southbound Loop 101 westbound US 60 ramps will be closed. Westbound US 60 is closed at the Dobson Road on-ramp and off-ramp at McClintock Drive. turn on: Westbound US 60 traffic can detour to northbound Loop 101 to approach Sky Harbor Airport or use westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to access I-10 in the central Phoenix area.
- Eastbound I-10 (to Tucson) Between 48th Street and Broadway Road to two lanes from 8 pm Friday to 4 am Monday (August 8) for bridge work as part of the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project. turn on: Allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when traveling through all work zones.
- Broadway Road is closed in both directions between 48th and 55th streets from 10 a.m. to 4 a.m. Monday. (August 8) for construction as part of the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project. All I-10 on and off ramps are closed at Broadway Road. The I-10 “connector ramp” between 48th Street and Broadway Road is closed. There is no access to Broadway at 52nd Street. turn onWhen Broadway Road is closed near I-10, be prepared to use alternate routes including Baseline Road, Priest Drive, University Drive and State Route 143/48th Street. Note: The Westbound I-10 off-ramp at 32nd Street is closed from 10 a.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday. (August 6) for block repairs. Consider exiting at 24th Street.
- Loop 101 northbound (freeway price) Two right lanes are closed between Warner and Baseline roads from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. (August 6) for guest maintenance. Northbound Loop 101 is closed in and outbound lanes between Warner and Baseline roads. turn onPlease use caution in all work zones and consider using the northbound toll frontage on Ray Road or other alternate routes to enter or exit the northbound Loop 101.
ADOT plans and builds new freeways, additional lanes and other improvements in the Phoenix area as part of the Regional Transportation Plan for the Maricopa County region. Projects are funded through a limited sales tax, Proposition 400, approved by Maricopa County voters in 2004.
