Charity and Fashion Made by Fabi Black and White Night: A Night at the Museum

Supporters of the arts and philanthropy enjoyed a multicultural evening of fine art, entertainment, wine and delicious desserts at Funding Arts Broward’s (FAB) fifth annual “Black and White: An Evening at the Museum” special event on April 25 at the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. .

The nonprofit organization, dedicated to nurturing and developing the arts in Broward County, hosted more than 100 arts advocates who were treated to musical performances by students at the Dillard High School Center for the Performing Arts. Soon after, Bonnie Clearwater led them on a private tour of Lux and Veritas, presented by S. Donald Sussman, director and executive curator of the NSU Museum of Art and sponsored by Funding Arts Broward. The exhibition highlights the transformation of contemporary art, focusing on a generation of artists of color who studied at the Yale School of Art for graduate studies between 2000 and 2010.

The title of the exhibition refers to Yale University’s motto, “Lux et Veritas,” which translates from Latin to “light and truth.” In the context of this exhibition, the title refers to how these artists thought about their work and the dynamics of their institutional structures with critical complexity. Featured artists include Mike Cloud, William Cordova, Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Abigail Deville, Torquase Dyson, John Espinosa, Louis Gispert, Rashawn Griffin, Leslie Hewitt, Lauren Holland, Titus Kafar, Jamery Kim, Eric N. They include Mack, Wardell Milan, Wangechi Muthu. , Mamiko Otsubo, Ronny Qevedo, Mickalene Thomas, Anna Tsouhlarakis, Shoshanna Weinberger and Kehinde Wiley. The exhibition will be on display until January 8, 2023.

“Black and White: An Evening at the Museum” is one of several FAB fun events in Broward County showcasing a variety of creative art programs.
