The Ministry of Defense announced in a statement that a large amount of weapons and ammunition were found in Kunar, Afghanistan.

Among the seized caches were 31 light and heavy weapons, 18,206 rounds of ammunition, 142 hand grenades, four walkie-talkie radios and two rocket launchers, Xinhua news agency reported.

Since assuming power in mid-August last year, the Taliban-led caretaker government has vowed to collect arms and ammunition from illegal militants in an effort to stabilize the country.

A few weeks ago, a cache of similar weapons and ammunition was found in North Takhar province.
