Good Neighbor Settlement House will host its first fundraising event and first charity fashion show since the start of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.

‘Walking in Style’ is set to start at 7pm on Friday in Rancho Viejo Casa Grande.

Good Neighbor Settlement House is a non-profit organization that provides many services to the needy men, women and children of Brownsville through a variety of food, clothing, showers and support services. Some of the programs available at the charity include a soup kitchen that runs three routes a day from Monday to Friday, and a rest program that provides food, showers, and a place to sleep for asylum seekers after being cleared by a customs border guard. With all proceeds from the event benefiting the non-profit organization, the fashion show will feature a mix of footwear and clothing designs from designers John Ashford, Jacobo Borge, Kasia Roginska and model Lori-Anne Marchese.

Executive director Astrid Dominguez told the Herald that local artists will be performing music and there will also be two raffles at the event.

“Good Neighbor is showcasing and sharing with attendees the work we’ve done this year, the programs we have and their charitable donations to support our work to support the currently unsheltered population,” Dominguez said.

Funds raised at the event will be used to renovate the non-profit facility, which includes the kitchen, clinic and historic building, to improve and expand services to the community.

General admission to the fashion show is $70 and can be purchased by calling the nonprofit at (956)-542-2368 or by visiting its office at 1254 E. Tyler Street.
