A family-owned company has been honored for 100 years of business in Pasco County

A 100-year-old lumber company in Pasco County is honored for a full century in business.

The San Antonio Lumber Company was started in 1923 by Herman Schrader, Sarah Schrader’s great-grandfather.

In the year In the 1950s, it became one of the largest Purina pet food retailers in Florida. Today, after 100 years, the local wood company is still growing.

Sarah Schrader is the 5th generation to run the family business.

“I mean, not just generations of our family, we have employees who have worked here for generations, and the people of this community have grown up here for generations,” Schrader said.

It’s more common to see businesses come and go, but Schrader says the secret to success is delivering a personal touch.

“We treat our customers like family. We provide exceptional service. We have a great staff and that’s what has kept us going for years,” she said.

The company currently employs 25 employees and Sarah hopes to continue to grow slowly – for another 100 years.

“This is a good size for us. I want to grow our business and pass it on to the next generation of Schrader.”
