Oregon Coast Travel Tips: Different Beaches Near Yachts for Adventure, Romance, and Adventure

(Yachts, Oregon) – Between Florence and Yatchats, in an off-the-beaten-path and confusing part of the Central Oregon Coast, you’ll find a little place called Strawberry Hill Wayside. There is much more to Strawberry Hill Wayside than meets the eye. Like Doctor Who’s TARDIS, it’s bigger on the inside than the outside. If that triad of physics doesn’t blow your mind, sometimes it’s self-discovery and the actual science of this place.
Strawberry Hill Wayside is part cove, part rock garden, and part sand and cobblestone. A nice stretch of easy beach allows for the classic romantic hand-holding walk at sunset, while the more adventurous can climb the many craggy, jagged basalt rocks. See Strawberry Hill – Cove Views, Rocks, Video.
On the southern edge, there is a very rugged long beach with large boulders – but rich in agate. Colorful cliff walls line this section, and they become brighter in color as the sun sets. But there is no beach here, so be very careful: stay in all but the lowest and quietest waves. See the southern slope of Strawberry Hill

The cave is full of amazing wonders. The sand quickly gives way to that Oregon beach favorite: plenty of tidepool life. Sea stars cling to these slightly wrinkled, 30-million-year-old rocks in large quantities. It’s magical when the sun hits them right.
This peak and the back of the ridge offer some head-scratching sights, like an oddball spindly tower-like piece of earth sticking out of nowhere and studded with wood. Holes in the back of the cave sometimes look like scary eyes staring at you. Strawberry Hill Labyrinth, Oddities
Then there are the amazing “natural steps” involved here: the amazing wonder of geology. Did ancient aliens build things here? No, nothing absurd. All of this basalt came from underwater volcanoes millions of years ago (like Cape Perpetua, actually) and these step-like features were then eroded into those shapes. Strawberry Hill Wayside has a wild history of origins, and some pretty amazing finds to this day. But most of all, hidden away in Lane County is a peaceful yet dramatic part of the Oregon Coast.
