BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Business owners on the South Choctaw section near North Flannery Road in Baton Rouge are worried. He said several drivers missed the curve and crashed, causing damage to electrical boxes, light poles and other vehicles.
The most recent crash happened on Friday.
“I was coming through the office and I heard this explosion and I looked out and saw debris flying up. I saw fire and smoke,” said Annie Fetterolf. “My first thought was that they hit the transformers again and they’ve done it before.”
Carl Weber, who works next door to Fetterolf, said it’s like the Indy 500 on the road.
“My partner was killed there. Face it there and somebody, heaven forbid, is going to get killed again,” Weber said.
That’s the biggest worry for business owners in the area.
Fetterolf added, “Please drive carefully. The speed limit is 45 miles per hour. I urge you to try and drive even that speed limit for everyone’s safety.
East Baton Rouge Parish leaders said they plan to send an engineer to the area to find out what can be done to prevent these accidents from happening again.
