The HerUniverse Fashion Show is back and better than ever! The show has been on hiatus for the past two years, but is making a triumphant return to San Diego Comic-Con 2022. To reflect Homecoming, this year’s theme was “Homecoming: The Wizard of Oz.” Likewise, co-hosts Nina West and Ashley Eckstein rocked two magical looks inspired by Glinda the Good Witch and Dorothy Gale.
After re-introducing the show, the hosts introduced the judges, which included last year’s winners Tayglor Johnson, Skyler Barrett and Vivien Leigh, and finally gave them a chance to walk down the runway.
This year’s show saw 26 designers compete for the Hot Topic and the chance to design HerUniverse’s collection. Wonders (2023)

This year’s features were inspired. turn red, Peri Platypus from Phineas and Ferb, Studio Ghibli Ponyo, Mrs. Potts from Disney beauty and the beast, Tinkerbell from Disney peter pan, Or the places we go Dr. Seuss, Bruno from Disney Encanto, The Matrix: Resurrection, My Hero Academia, Studio Ghibli Ghostbusters, Doctor Strange, BTS, The CW’s 100, Our Flag Means Death; Gondar city from Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, Into the Spider-Verse, The Haunted Mansion, Yzma from Disney’s The Emperor’s New Grove, Disney Alice in Wonderland, Hades from Disney Hercules, Ghostface and Casey Baker from shouting, There is no face from Studio Ghibli He breathed, Doctor Octopus fromspider man, And god
As always, this show highlighted the creativity in geek circles, from professional tailors and cosplayers to casual hobbyists and newcomers, people of all ages and genders came together to celebrate fandom and geek couture.
Hosts Ashley Eckstein and Nina West also donned additional looks inspired by Romy and Michelle’s high school reunion and danced to the film, before ending the show in a Captain Marvel-inspired outfit.
Her Universe They also took time to reveal their collection for Harajuku Collective, which will be a pop-up shop collaboration with Studio Ghibli in Tokyo.

The show had 2 winners! Michael Burson (@thewizardtailor) won the Judge’s Choice for his Doctor Strange: Hellfire Gala look and Cindy Guillermo Heselton (@sinnanoms) won the Judge’s Choice for her inspiration for CAGED look. Red turnBoth were wild and passionate.
