Wendy K. Bauman received the award at a gala in Washington, DC
MILWAUKEE, WI – Association for Enterprise Opportunities (AEO) Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) President and Chief Visionary Officer Wendy K. Bauman presented the Impact Award for Innovation on Main Street at AEO’s 30th Anniversary Celebration at the Smithsonian National Museum. African American History and Culture in Washington, DC on July 20.
“This award recognizes leaders who have made significant contributions to Main Street through innovation and leadership,” said AEO President and CEO Connie E. Evans.

Bauman has led WWBIC, a statewide economic development corporation, since 1994. Under Wendy’s leadership, WWBIC is celebrating 35 years of impact this year. They recently received an upgraded Aeris rating of A-*** and currently have a loan portfolio of over $22.7 million with over 600 active borrowers and over 60 employees who work together to achieve this non-profit organization’s mission of “Dreams to Work”.
“I am very proud of all the good work WWBIC has done for small businesses in Wisconsin,” said WWBIC President and Chief Visionary Officer Wendy K. Bauman. “What keeps me and all of our employees going every day is our passion to provide entrepreneurship and financial security training, lending and coaching, especially to underrepresented groups who have difficulty accessing fair and responsible capital.”
