How to wear Barbiecore Trend

[ad_1]

We’ve all seen the paparazzi photos: Greta Gerwig’s Barbie It’s already a cultural phenomenon and we’re still over a year away from its release. Combine the aesthetic touch of a trendy, talented young director, the nostalgic power of a doll’s fashion icon, and the color pink, and you have endless outfit inspiration, commonly referred to as Barbiecore these days.

In a decision informed by strong feminist values, my mother refused to allow me to become a Barbie, despite many attempts to persuade her through tearful appeals, implausible reasons and desperate negotiations. In hindsight, I appreciate her sense and decision, but I will take this Barbie Film as an opportunity for hidden wish-fulfillment. I also dye my dark brown hair platinum blonde. I don’t plan on dressing like Barbie every day, but she has been a strong style influence. Below, based on the internet’s latest favorite mod board, are the pieces that modern Barbie wears that you can copy into your own wardrobe.

Candi dress

It’s clear that pink reigns supreme in Barbie’s wardrobe, and this bubblegum shade puts a fun spin on a classic summer staple: the cotton maxi dress. Pair it with sandals and hit the beach or the market.

LNA clothing

Twisted-wrap knit mini dress

This Jacquemus collection is what Barbie wears to the country club or to cheer on her sister Stacey at a basketball game.

Jacques

Ruched Patchwork Mini Dress

Sometimes Barbie needs to unwind with a glass of chilled natural wine and small plates with her girlfriends, so she wears a cute salad-hem dress and sends her friends the color scheme to match.

Sherries

Graphic-print beach dress

Barbie wouldn’t be caught dead on the beach in Ken’s old timers. She wore a bikini with enough coverage to post on Instagram.

Enzo Mesh Bikini Bottoms

Speaking of the beach, the print and cut of this bikini screams “Malibu Barbie.”

Frankies Bikinis

Paneled denim mini dress

This Gani dress may rock more poly pockets than Barbie, but there’s something very ’90s doll about this color blocking. It reminds me of getting Dippin’ Dots at the mall and brushing off the plastic heels at the Disney store.

Contrast pleat tennis dress

I don’t play tennis, but this dress might convince me to start. I love this one because the little pink pumps flash when you’re on the move—whether you’re walking around the court or finding a spot to put down your picnic blanket in the park.

Mom’s ears

I don’t know if Barbie had her ears pierced, but if she did she would be into these.

Wool-blend Blazer

For more formal office events, Barbie needs a few sets of suits. This powder blue umbrella and skirt combination is the perfect ensemble to look sharp without sacrificing personal style – think Olivia Rodrigo in the White House.
