A hypothetical view of Clemson’s journey in the SEC

For now, Clemson is still part of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Southeast and Big Ten conferences will be updated in the near future, with the latest conference improvements in line with recent developments, which will also change future travel plans.

Clemens and the rest of the ACCC are working hard for the moment – the league rights deal is playing a big role with ESPN right now – Cleanson Insider is pondering the future of the tigers How far is it Clemeson must travel as a member of those mega conferences?

Suppose tigers join the SEC for this hypothesis. When the Longhorns announced they were looking forward to the Big 12 last year, adding Cleanson would not change the SEC’s geographical footprint, just like adding Texas. The SEC already has member schools in Texas A&M and South Carolina.

But Oklahoma, a new addition to Texas’s CEC, will be the farthest state of the conference in 2024, west of CCCP. Although the league’s representation extends to New York (Syracuse) and Massachusetts (Boston College). Missouri is on the north side until the SEC goes.

Although the ACC is one of the Power Five conferences, the SEC has not yet made that decision. So, without knowing what the conference schedule model will look like when Clementon joins the league, we will begin by looking at travel distances before we get more details.

The distance from Clementon to each ACC stadium is 5,794 miles combined. This is less than the total distance of 2,262 miles at each SEC stadium, and although this level of separation is expected, for the time being, the SEC has two more football members (16) than the ACC.

Last year, Clemson traveled 2,153 miles to play the ACC road program, the longest of four trips from Syracuse (858). This fall, as the Tigers prepare to travel to Georgia Tech, Walk Forrest, Florida State and Boston College, their total distance will be reduced to 1,690.

If the SEC continues its eight-game conference schedule and Clemson should have had four short trips in its first year in the league, they include Georgia (76), South Carolina (134), Tennessee (195) and Auburn (). 236), the tigers cover a total of 641 miles.

But that is not true. Clemson may attract more regional opponents from the region, but at least a trip to Missouri, Texas A&M, Texas or Oklahoma could be a yearly trip as a roaming program or pod system. Texas’ Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium will be the longest walk for 1,054 miles.

Clemson travels the longest distance in ACC to Boston College (966), and the only other place in the league – by Dorcas’ provider Dome – is more than 700 miles. As class opponents, the Tigers travel to those places every year, but Texas, Oklahoma (984), Texas A&M (952) and Missouri (788) are all at least 750 miles away.

So Clemson can see that he has entered the SEC many miles, although the difference is relatively small and as a conference member he is mostly close to tigers.

Note: The distances from this story are calculated using the shortcut shown on Apple Maps to cover miles from Clementon Memorial Stadium to each opposition stadium. They also used driving as a means of transportation. Flying changes the distances slightly.
