HOSTON – (July 6, 2022) – The Jones University Graduate School of Rice has added nine faculty members from administration to marketing. It is a record number of newly hired and long-serving professors for the school.
Peter Rodriguez, Dean of Jones School, says the basic strategy of the rice business is to make the best of it.
“Our programs have seen tremendous growth over the years – including our new business for undergraduate students – and we want to bring in strong scholars to support that growth,” he said. We want to hire better professors from any region and background to educate our students and improve relationships in Houston and beyond. This will bring a variety of knowledge, experience and insights to our campus and the city as full-time professors and first-time assistant professors.
“These talented scholars and educators will strengthen the rice business in the areas of accounting, finance, marketing, organizational behavior and management, as well as energy or job creation,” Rodriguez added.
The new professors mourn-
· Nicola Sekomandy, Professor of Management at Houston Endowment, focuses on operations management and energy industry, energy transfer in special needs. Prior to Rice, Seconmandy was a Ph.D. At Carnegie Melon University Tapper Business School Program. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Venice and a master’s degree in computer science and PhD. From Operations Research and Statistics from the University of Houston.
Diane van Kynienberg, professor of management at Houston Endowment for Management, is a highly regarded organizational researcher whose knowledge includes leadership, diversity and inclusion, teamwork and innovation. He holds a PhD from DrewSell University, Erasmus University, Rotterdam, the University of Amsterdam, and Leiden University in the Netherlands.
· Robert Ditmar, a professor of finance, joined Jones School after attending Kelly Business School at the Michigan Ross Business School and Indiana University. His research focuses on theoretical and practical issues on the value of fixed income securities and how different assets affect corporate equity. He received his doctorate. Bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
· Yangos Papanastacio is an Associate Professor in Management focusing on Operations Management and has made a significant contribution to understanding the online platform and market operations. Teaches MBA courses in Business Analysis, Data Analysis and Statistics. In addition to operational management, his research interests include pricing and revenue management and business analysis. Papanastasiu holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cambridge and a master’s degree in computer and information engineering. He completed his doctorate. London School of Business Administration Science and Operations.
· Assistant Professor Jung Yun Li focuses on how stable or governmental policy affects distribution or efficiency. Her research aims to understand how consumer information, equity constraints, and consumer personal preferences shape credit market results. Lee received her PhD. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s degree in economics from Northwestern University.
· Tommy Pan Fang, Assistant Professor of Strategic Management, holds a PhD. Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Computer Science from Harvard Business School and University of Pennsylvania. His research interests include digitalisation and entrepreneurship economics – how digital platforms affect growth and performance.
· Assistant Professor Sora Jun focuses on organizational behavior and teaches Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Business course in the Rice MBA program. Her research uses psychological perspectives to study social hierarchies and equality, workplace discrimination, and group relationships. June’s study examines when and why leadership failed to distinguish between racism and sexual harassment. She earned a PhD. A bachelor’s degree in business from the Stanford University School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in business and finance from the University of Toronto.
Assistant Professor Suleiman Kerimov focuses his research on operational management as well as market design, related theories and practical opportunities. He holds a PhD. He holds a bachelor’s degree in operational research from Stanford University and a degree in mathematics from Bilkent University in Turkey.
Assistant Professor David Zhang focuses on real estate and family finance. He graduated with a PhD. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics from Harvard Business School and Amherst College. Prior to graduating from high school, Zhang was a research assistant with the Federal Reserve Bank at the Boston Consumer Payment Research Center.
